Welcome to the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia - Goulburn &  District Branch Inc.

The Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA) was established in 1948 with the primary roles of promoting the shooting sports, and protecting the interests of firearms owners.

Aims and Objectives of the SSAA are:

The encouragement of recreational shooting by responsible persons, with the intention of fostering a better knowledge of firearms, their safe handling and care, as well as improved marksmanship. It shall be our further objective and purpose to forward the development of the characteristics of honesty, responsibility, discipline, teamwork and self-reliance, which are the essentials of good sportsmanship, good citizenship and true patriotism. Furthermore, to gain wider recognition so as to promote and improve the role of Sporting Shooter in Australia and develop new skills.
To help educate young people in the skills of hunting, shooting and proper care and safe handling of firearms.
To encourage all hunters to abide by a strict code of ethics.
To work for a better understanding between landholder and Association Member.
To achieve advocate game conservation and assist appropriate authorities in game management programs.
To act as an effective and credible voice, representing all Australian shooters to the public, community leaders and authorities.


If you are NEW to SSAA and you are thinking of joining a shooting club, then you have come to the right place.

Can anyone become a SSAA club member and licensed shooter?
You must be able to pass a Police criminal background check, have good English language skills and be an Australian resident.
