Welcome to the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia - Goulburn & District Branch Inc.

The Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA) was f0rmed in Sydney in 1948 in response to the Government's increasing involvement in firearms legislation. The State branches were formed over the following years and the national body was established in 1962

Aims and Objectives of the SSAA are:

To provide means for the exchange and furtherance of knowledge pertaining to firearms, ammunition, accessories and shooting generally.
To promote and assists in establishing and maintaining firearms shooting ranges, field etiquette and knowledge of laws relating to firearms, hunting, target shooting and arms collecting.
To provide members with adequate opportunities to participate in shooting sports.
The encouragement of recreational shooting by responsible persons, with the intention of fostering a better knowledge of firearms, their safe handling and care, as well as improved marksmanship.
It shall be our further objective and purpose to forward the development of the characteristics of honesty, responsibility, discipline, teamwork and self-reliance, which are the essentials of good sportsmanship, good citizenship and true patriotism.
Furthermore, projecting a professional and credible image to the non shooting community, to gain wider recognition so as to promote and improve the role of Sporting Shooter in Australia and develop new skills.
To help educate young people in the skills of hunting, shooting and proper care and safe handling of firearms. To encourage all hunters to abide by a strict code of ethics.
To work for a better understanding between landholders and Association Members.
To achieve advocate game conservation and assist appropriate authorities in game management programs.
To act as an effective and credible voice, representing all Australian shooters to the public, community leaders and authorities.
To maintain the status of an amateur shooting organisation.
